A Voice for Rural Ireland

As one of the few full-time community radio stations serving a rural population, West Limerick 102FM plays a unique role in promoting rural life, heritage, and local identity.

Our farming programmes, traditional music hours, and coverage of parish-level news reflect the values and lifestyles of the people who make up our listenership.

We believe in championing rural voices and sharing the stories that matter locally, even if they’re not heard on national airwaves.

Our Local Roots,
Our Loyal Listeners.

West Limerick 102FM was founded with one clear mission: to give a voice to the people of West Limerick. Over the years, the station has become a trusted companion to thousands of listeners across Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Rathkeale, and the surrounding areas.

Whether you’re tuning in during the morning commute or while working on the farm, our presenters are always close at hand with a friendly voice, a favourite song, or a breaking local story.

Inclusive, Welcoming, Diverse.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive platform where all members of the community can get involved.

Volunteers from every walk of life contribute to our shows – young and old, newcomers and lifelong locals alike.

Whether someone wants to learn how to use the studio, present a music programme, or simply support the station behind the scenes, there is a place for them at West Limerick 102FM.

Built By the Community,
For the Community

West Limerick 102FM is not owned by a corporation or run for profit. We are a not-for-profit community station, funded through a mix of advertising, sponsorship, grants, and listener support.

Every euro we receive goes directly back into improving our equipment, training volunteers, and keeping the station running 7 days a week.

Covering the Big and Small

From live coverage of major local events like St. Patrick’s Day parades and GAA finals, to interviews with local authors, business owners, and councillors, we take pride in spotlighting the full spectrum of West Limerick life.

Our news segments keep listeners informed of the latest council updates, roadworks, school events, and fundraising efforts that affect their everyday lives.

Your Stories Matter

We believe that every community has stories worth telling – and we want to help tell them.

Whether it’s a feature on a local hero, a documentary about life during lockdown, or a youth-led music special, West Limerick 102FM is a platform for storytelling in all its forms.

If you’ve got a story idea, we want to hear from you.
